Time Enough At Last.

We are charter members in a community of dreamers.
Our passion is the printed page.

Our Current Book:

We’ve escaped the forest of Bamford’s debut novel only to land in the dystopian confines of the Dream Hotel. With a 7-0 sweep in our selection poll, it seems the entire H.B.B.C. is ready for an extended stay!

Next Meeting: Sunday, June 15 @ 7:30 p.m.

Inspired by the eighth episode of the original Twilight Zone television series, the H.B.B.C. was founded by a pair of mismatched produce workers who started talking about books to help pass the time. Ted Chiang’s amazing short story collection, Exhalation, kicked off a long line of eclectic reads, and eventually, our membership grew to include people of diverse ages from multiple states. A close-knit bunch, we hold weekly Zoom meetings (usually Mondays) to discuss roughly 100 pages of reading material. We adjust our schedule and page count to accommodate as many members as possible on any given week. We ask that members refrain from any extensive online research prior to each week’s reading. The goal is to develop our own observations, ideas and feelings about each selected work and not to parrot the thoughts of others.
